post Category: Blog Content post postFebruary 7, 2008

Please do not “Approve” all comments that come to your blog.
Certain “Comments” can destroy your blog. We will take a look at some sample “Comments” and you can decide whether or not you want them as part of your insurance blog.

Most “Comments” Are Nothing More Than Spam

We welcome legitimate “Comments” from those who have visited our insurance blog and have taken the time to tell us what they think, good or bad.

Unfortunately, there are those who seem to want to make a lot of money without working or just use their day in trying to destroy someone else’s hard work.

In the examples below, we will take a look at some actual “Comments” that came to my insurance blog and then we can determine what we want to do with them.

When you first log-in to your “Dashboard”, you will notice a greyed area on the right - “Latest Activity”. If any comments have come to your blog, there will be a note “Comments in Moderation”, just click on it.

Example “Comment” #1:

Insurance Blogging Comment002

This “Comment” has nothing to do with our topic “insurance” and is nothing more than spam, just check the “Delete” check box.

Example “Comment” #2:

Insurance Blogging Comment003

At first glance, this appears to be a legitimate “Comment”, but it isn’t. You will get tons of these. “Delete” it.

Example “Comment” #3:

Insurance Blogging Comment004

This “Comment” is written in plain English and appears to be a legitimate comment made by a visitor to our insurance blog. I would “Approve” this comment.

I have left out all of the information at the top of the “Comment” box - E-mail, IP address, URL, etc., but when you are looking at the “Comments” on your insurance blog, they will contain the necessary information.

WARNING: Whether you happen to “click” on the Comment’s URL is a personal decision, but just remember, you have no idea what you will find. It just could be a virus!

Once you “Approve” a “Comment”, that comment becomes a part of your insurance blog and creates a link to it. I, personally, “Delete” 99.9% of all “Comments” that come to my insurance blog. I reserve the right to choose who and what links to my insurance blog.
